PRIORITIES

PRIORITIES

1. Remain calm. Do not do anything hastily.

2. Seek medical help immediately. Call the hospital. Avoid moving the victim away from the scene until professional help arrives as the person may have broken bones or other serious injuries which will only be made worse. An exception to this would be if the victim is in further danger from their surroundings, such as fire.

When you call for help, always remember to give the following information:

- What has happened
- Where it has happened
- How many victims
- If there are any other risks

Speak as slowly and clearly as possible. The questions are important for the help to be correct, safe and quick.

Avoid transporting an unconscious injured person to the hospital in your own vehicle. Call for help instead and give first aid meanwhile.

3. Begin first aid as soon as possible. Limit your first aid to what is absolutely necessary using the simplest possible methods.
